Jessica Stewart

Jessica Stewart is a Staff Editor and Digital Media Specialist for My Modern Met, as well as a curator and art historian. Since 2020, she is also one of the co-hosts of the My Modern Met Top Artist Podcast. She earned her MA in Renaissance Studies from University College London and now lives in Rome, Italy. She cultivated expertise in street art which led to the purchase of her photographic archive by the Treccani Italian Encyclopedia in 2014. When she’s not spending time with her three dogs, she also manages the studio of a successful street artist. In 2013, she authored the book "Street Art Stories Roma" and most recently contributed to "Crossroads: A Glimpse Into the Life of Alice Pasquini." Meet Margaret Hamilton, the Woman Who Helped NASA Land on the Moon

While programming languages first appeared in the 1950s, it was really the following decade when NASA, and one pioneering female software engineer, led the way to programming as we know it. Margaret Hamilton was a 24-year-old working mother with a degree in mathematics when she began working as a programmer for MIT in 1960.

How a Mountain Climber Ended Up Creating Viral Images of the 2017 Solar Eclipse

Photographers Ted Hesser and Andrew Studer, along with climbers Martina Tibell and Tommy Smith, worked together to create some of the most memorable images of the 2017 total solar eclipse. Working with precision, and under great time constraints, they managed to capture a breathtaking image of Smith's silhouette standing on Smith Rock in Oregon as totality took place just behind him.

One artist is making concrete strides in breaking up the boys club that exists in the art world—specifically graffiti art. Nina Wright, who works under the name Girl Mobb, grew up in rural Ohio, where she started out painting barns, but it wasn't until she moved to Oakland, California that she found her place among other graffiti artists. Their textile map of Pakistan, which uses native embroidery techniques to mark different regions, has become a viral sensation, with more than 20,000 shares on Twitter. From traditional Swati embroidery to the balochi taanka stitch, the map is a beautifully visual way to explore Pakistan's cultural heritage.
