Colorful and quirky, Takashi Murakami‘s art is instantly recognizable. Not limited to one medium, we have seen the Japanese artist create paintings, sculptures, wallpaper, and installations with his unique aesthetic. Recently, Murakami has collaborated with Mattel on a limited edition UNO card deck that is just as whimsical as the creator himself. Each set comes with one UNO card deck that is made up of 112 cards.

Artist Adorns Slices of Wood With Enchanting Woodland Illustrations

Enchanting illustrations of woodland animals and leafy habitats find their home on small slices of wood. Greece-based artist Melpomeni Chatzipanagiotou pairs her love of portraying nature with organic materials in an ongoing series of drawings and paintings on wood. These small tactile pieces depict a range dreamy scenes encompassed by a border of real lumber. Chatzipanagiotou renders her subjects using a limited color palette of black and white, blue, and some metallics.

17-Year-Old Invents Low-Cost Machine Learning Software That Can Detect Elephant Poachers

Despite conservationists’ efforts, animal poaching continues to devastate vulnerable species. So, when New Yorker Anika Puri came across ivory jewelry at a market in India four years ago, she felt inspired to do her part in stopping elephant hunting. The solution: she invented a low-cost machine learning software that can detect poachers in real time with 91% accuracy. Discovering the numerous ivory objects in Mumbai was the catalyst for her project.
