For many brides, one of the most meaningful moments of her wedding is being walked down the aisle by her father. Brittany Peck, who recently wed her fianc Jeremy in Elyria, Ohio, got to experience twice the love when her dad stopped the wedding procession to invite Brittany's stepfather to join him in giving away their daughter's hand in marriage.
The touching photos, which have been going viral since wedding photographer Delia Blarkburn shared them on her Facebook page on September 27, show Todd Bachman, Brittany's father, looking determined as he pulled his daughter's tearful stepdad to the aisle.
“He has helped me raise my daughter and he should be walking with us,” Bachman said to the photographer about his counterpart, Todd Cendrosky, who has been a part of Brittany's life for over a decade.
Two weeks before the wedding, according to Bachman, Brittany confessed to him that there was something bothering her. Bachman, who already knew what she was going to tell him, explained to The Chronicle Telegram: “I told her I already had something planned. She was so torn, and the last thing I wanted was for her to be torn.” On the day of the ceremony, he surprised everyone by taking the hand of Brittany's stepdad so they could share the special moment with their daughter.
“I always wanted to [walk a daughter] down the aisle, and when I married my beautiful wife, Candy, she gave me three daughters,” said Cendrosky, who is reportedly a bit overwhelmed by the attention the beautiful story has gained. “I don't have ‘stepdaughters'. . . I have daughters, and when Todd grabbed my hand. . . that was the best day of my life, and I wouldn't change that day for the world. We have become family, and the children's needs need to come first.”
