Tiny Embroidered Landscapes Look Like Mini Framed Paintings Bursting With Color

From sunset hues to ocean blues, nature boasts countless colors that inspire artists to capture landscapes on canvas. However, rather than using oil paints or pastels, New Mexico-based artist Carolina Torres crafts miniature landscapes from thread. Each meticulously rendered scene features a variety of embroidery stitches that look just like textured paint strokes. Torres mounts many of her finished pieces inside tiny ornate frames, mimicking landscape paintings in a gallery.

Artist Transforms Dried Leaves With Embroidery as a Way to Reconnect With Nature

Although leaves often go unnoticed by the average passersby, artist Hillary Waters Fayle has made them the focus of her latest embroidery project. Entitled Botanical Stitchwork, this ongoing series uses the organic materials that the artist collects on her walks as canvases for intricately stitched designs, which range from geometric patterns to stylized floral renderings. The stitching atop the leaves is an unlikely pairing but one ripe with metaphors.

Artist Transforms Ordinary Wooden Benches Into Dynamic Curling Works of Art

French-Argentine artist Pablo Reinoso believes that art always changes the space it inhabits. “It can provide the environment in which it is inscribed a new meaning, a new function, and a new angle of vision,” he explains. Reinoso’s dynamic benches certainly explore the spaces they inhabit in unexpected ways. Strips of wood and metal seem to break away from traditional benches or frames to complete dramatic gestures across a room or public space.
