Ferrari California T Covered with Glowing Paints in a Unique Video Exploration of Speed

We were thrilled when artist Fabian Oefner contacted us about his most recently published project, Visualizing a Ferrari through Speed. The incredibly powerful project captures a dynamic cascade of glowing colors as they move across the surface of the 2015 Ferrari California T.

To create the video project (directly below), Oefner recently visited Ferrari's headquarters in Maranello to learn more about the vehicle. After a test drive, he said, “The acceleration of the California T into the wind convinced me to reveal the sensation of speed through form, to see the unseen and convert that emotion into a physical art piece.”

The resulting video explores motion and form through a vibrant array of explosive and expressive colors. To develop his idea, Oefner first built a small-scale wind tunnel to test the wind power and the glowing UV paints that would eventually be sprayed onto the Ferrari. Realizing that he would need a system to deliver the paints to a full-scale car, the artist conceived a complex pipe system that blew variously-colored paints towards the car at up to 150 miles per hour. The final video production was a captivating organic process that was not controlled but, rather, that came alive on camera in unpredictable ways.

If you are interested in the process, you can watch the behind the scenes video (far) below.
