The History of Music Shown Through Famous Guitars

Italian multimedia designer and art director Federico Mauro really loves to explore iconic objects previously owned by famous people. So the next time you are rocking out to your favorite song, imagine this project and the instruments–particularly the guitars–behind the music. To create Famous Guitars, Mauro researched musicians and their preferred style. After identifying a specific guitar to a specific person, Mauro produced a minimalist image of each stringed instrument simply paired with the artist's name.

Each distinct music style stems not only from the guitars but from the musicians and their passion for music. Whether acoustic, electric, bass, double-neck, or twelve-string, all of the guitars–the color, shape, and style–are very telling of each personality. Although the instruments have similar structures, the wide range of music that can be produced from each set of strings is an incredible feat that has been accomplished by many featured here, including Chuck Berry, Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen, Bruce Springsteen, Jimmy Page, and so many others.
