Greek graphic designer and illustrator Meni Chatzipanagiotou creates beautiful, nature-inspired ink drawings that are full of captivating details. Hand-drawn using black Micron pens and other fine-liners, Chatzipanagiotou’s subject matter ranges from fantastical landscapes and enchanting forest scenes to decorative typography and animals. The talented artist doesn’t always draw on traditional 2D surfaces such as paper though—she often adorns wood slices and even eggs with her mesmerizing motifs.
Although Chatzipanagiotou is inspired by nature, she blurs the line between reality and fantasy. In one piece, a sailor battles through a stormy sea in a wooden boat, while a dragon swoops through a shooting-star filled sky. In a series of monochrome animal portraits, Chatzipanagiotou adorns their bodies with magical celestial skies, illustrating the theory that everyone and everything on Earth is “made of stars.”
For each post Chatzipanagiotou shares on Instagram, she often includes an inspirational quote in the caption. For one typographic rendering of the word “art,” Chatzipanagiotou includes Picasso’s wise words: “The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.”
