While most of us document our travels with a camera, there's a subset of talented creatives who use their drawing skills to capture the essence of a place. An artist known as jejenamoo is the perfect example of this. She turns to her pen and her watercolor set to immortalize the sights she encounters both around and away from her home in South Korea. Her subject matter reminds us that there's just as much beauty in small towns and the local shrines of Taipei as there is in the big landmarks and famous city skylines of Seoul.

Most of jejenamoo's art depicts colorful streets that could be found anywhere in the world—if it weren't for the tiny details that make each place so special. Maybe it's the slightly slanted roof or the exact color of the flowers in bloom. But the spots in her art also document scenes that she would have missed had she been there at any other time. The cyclists down the road or the exact direction the wind is blowing and pushing the leaves of the trees is what gives her work a vibrant feeling.

Part of what makes her work so impactful is that they aren't the quick urban sketches of a passing tourist. Jejenamoo sits down and sets up shop—sometimes with a table, sometimes on her lap—and gets to work to see the world and depict them with beautiful eyes. And so, a restaurant with large windows can be as pretty as the view it offers, and a university campus covered in cherry blossoms can be as alluring as a lonely table next to a parking lot in the right light.

Ultimately, jejenamoo's urban sketches remind us that you don't need to go far away to find beautiful vistas—you just have to pay attention to the world around you. To stay up to date with her creations, you can follow her on Instagram.
