LEGO fans have reason to get excited thanks to the toy company’s latest announcement. A new, 500-acre LEGOLAND theme park is expected to open July 4, 2020 in Goshen, NY, about 60 miles north of New York City. The LEGOLAND New York Resort will be the third LEGO theme park to open in the U.S., but it will also be the most epic. With 7 different themed lands and 50 rides and attractions, it will be the largest LEGOLAND park ever built.
“The Fourth of July means family,” says LEGOLAND New York Public Relations Manager Matt Besterman, “and at LEGOLAND theme parks, families can ride, climb, play, learn, and build together.” Visitors will enter through the “Factory,” where they will learn about the LEGO manufacturing process. Kids can then make their own creations in “Bricktopia,” a land where they can test their builds on a table that simulates an earthquake. Other themed lands include the “Knights’ Kingdom,” featuring a gigantic LEGO castle and a Dragon-themed roller coaster; and “Miniland,” where cities, landmarks, and other attractions are re-built in miniature, entirely out of LEGO bricks.
The park is designed for kids ages 2-12, but that doesn’t mean adults can’t join in the fun—most of the rides are made for families to enjoy together. After the park’s initial opening in the summer of 2020, the new LEGOLAND Hotel is planned to open in 2021. Much like the one in Carlsbad, California, its 250 themed rooms are specially designed with imaginative LEGO features and exciting play areas around every corner.
You can already buy your tickets for the theme park online. Check out the prices and find out more about the incredible new theme park on the LEGOLAND New York website.
The LEGOLAND New York Resort has an official opening date—July 4, 2020.
