These scenes created by photographer Luke Klikovca are like peering into another universe. Some of the images appear to be surreal landscapes with oddly structured buildings in the far distance. Others appear to be fictional, bizarre creatures floating through the air. Are we looking into remote and unexplored galaxies? Is Klikovca revealing to us the depths of the ocean? Regardless of what we see, each photograph is intensely hypnotizing. The viewer can stare at the image for hours, getting lost in the rich colors, smoky swirls, and twisted shapes.
In reality, the project entitled Demersal is a collection of Klikovca's creative experimentation. The photographs reveal, “his fascination with the diversity and depth of surreal spaces that are created by unpredictable patterns of moving colored fluid.” Through variations in lighting effects, Klikovca narrows in on the colored liquid in a glass of water to capture endless psychedelic effects.
The photographs are filled with a sense of mystery and wonder. Through this work, Klikovca helps us to escape to another place and time for a few moments before we have to snap out of his dream and back into our hectic realities.
