Maximo Riera's Elephant Chair is the latest addition to the Spanish designer's Animal Chair Collection, which we've seen grow over the last couple of years. More like a piece of art than a furniture fashion statement, the mighty elephant throne is carved from compressed foam with an internal steel frame and is enveloped in fine leather.
According to Designboom, the Elephant Chair pays “homage to the largest animal walking the earth, known for memory, intelligence and wisdom.” It is also a “representation of the supreme deity Ganesha” who is “popularly worshiped in India as a remover of obstacles.”
