Who doesn’t love an unexpected song mashup? Pop artist Meghan Trainor was recently a guest on BBC Radio 1 where she was asked to perform her hit “All About That Bass” to the tune of Billie Eilish’s song “Bad Guy.” It was part of host Scott Mills’ challenge of “Your Lyrics Different Song” in which he asks a performer to adapt their words on top of someone else’s beat. Trainor rocked the challenge and blew Mills away with her spontaneous singing that perfectly fit with Eilish’s base track.

The original “All About That Bass” was a summer smash in 2014 and has a totally different sound than “Bad Guy.” Trainor’s original tune has a bouncy doo-wop sound to it; but when sung over Eilish’s single, the remixed lyrics suddenly take on a darker, edgier tone.

Trainor, for her part, recognized that this mashup is an absolute bop. Clearly caught up in the moment of performing, she finished singing and looked surprised at what she had just done. “Wow, yeah. I got lost, I just got lost,” she told Mills. “I left all of you guys for a moment, and was like, ‘Why is this my favorite song?'”

Pop artist Meghan Trainor created an unexpected smash single when she made a song mashup of her song “All About That Bass” sung over the tune of Billie Eilish's song “Bad Guy.”
