Artist Swirls a Swarm of 10,000 Ceramic Insects Across Gallery Walls

Several years ago, Anna Collette Hunt “stirred the swarm,” summoning 10,000 insects into the towers of Wollaton Hall, which is home to the Natural History Collection in Nottingham, England. These weren't real bugs, but were handmade ceramics created by Hunt. The impressive collection of gold and jewel-toned creatures swirled across the walls and down the stairs of the Hall. Each insect was unique and had subtle variations–some were missing wings or limbs.

Disney Princesses Creatively Reimagined as Renaissance Women

Designer Thunyamon Charoensuttikul has taken Disney's princesses back in time to give them a Renaissance makeover. Using iconic characters such as Snow White, Mulan, Cinderella, and Rapunzel, Charoensuttikul made it look as though they were the muses for portraits during the 15th-century. While it does seem that these princesses were painted, the artist actually executed all her pieces digitally.

Architects Design Home with Flower Pots Built into the Exterior Walls

While designing a dwelling in Seoul, Korea, OA: Lab took note of how common it was for people to decorate the exterior of their home with flowers. Despite homeowners' desire for botanical design incorporation, structures simply hadn't been built with planters embedded into them. OA: Lab decided to run with this idea and take an unconventional approach–they ingeniously integrated nature into the structure's facade.
