NASA’s DART Mission Successfully Moved a Stadium-Sized Asteroid’s Orbit

Someday an asteroid might threaten Earth. In preparation for that day, NASA has been strategizing how to deflect incoming celestial bodies. This plan for planetary defense was recently tested for the first time when the DART mission's spacecraft collided intentionally with a small asteroid named Dimorphos which currently poses no danger to us. The results are now in: the collision shortened the period of Dimorphos' orbit.

It's estimated that 4% to 6% of people incarcerated in the United States are actually innocent. And unfortunately, a markedly high number of those who are wrongfully convicted are minorities. Convicting innocent people often comes about due to shoddy police work, coercive interrogations, or lack of technology to properly analyze evidence. While many cases often focus on DNA evidence, one man recently saw his conviction overturned due to an unexpected source—MythBusters.

Amusing ‘Yes, But’ Comics Depict the Funny Contradictions Found in Everyday Life

Life is full of contradictions. Our viewpoints can change all the time, depending on the circumstances. Illustrator Gudim Anton depicts the not-so-sticky parts of life in his popular Yes, But comic series. The two-panel illustrations demonstrate how attitudes shift and sometimes, they are an inexplicable contradiction. While amusing, the comics are thought-provoking, too. Some of Anton’s illustrations point out how we can knowingly work against our own self-interests.
