Artist “Unwraps” Animated Characters to Reveal Their Realistic Forms

Oftentimes, animated films give off the impression of perfect, idealized worlds. Stefan Thelen, aka Super A, uses his art to pull the veil off of these fantasies and give a glimpse of reality. He “unwraps” iconic cartoon characters and reveals what is hidden beneath. The ongoing series, titled Trapped, features acrylic renderings of Disney and Studio Ghibli worlds, with a peek at what these subjects would look like in real life.

Photographer Chronicles a Magical Week of Swimming With Orcas in Norway

Photographer Dan Zafra of Capture the Atlas is always up for a new adventure. And so, when the opportunity presented itself, he couldn't pass up the chance to spend a week photographing and swimming with orcas in the Norwegian Arctic. While these highly intelligent animals are found in all oceans and most seas, it's only in the fjords of Northern Norway that encounters are commonplace enough for groups to organize trips to see these animals.

Neon Nighttime Scenes Capture the Electric Energy of Taipei After Dark

The night ushers in a new rainbow of colors. This is especially true in urban metropolises, where the fluorescent lights of buildings and signs illuminate the streets in a variety of colors. Photographer Andrew Nef captures the electric beauty of the city of Taipei that can only be seen after dark in an ongoing series of photos. Nef has been documenting street scenes ever since he moved to Taiwan in 2014.
