Australian photographer Jay Weinstein was wandering the streets of Bikaner, India one day in 2013, when he encountered a man standing by some motorbikes. Initially, Weinstein was hesitant to approach the interesting stranger. Then the man yelled, “Take my picture too!” Weinstein responded with the simple imperative “Smile!” With that, the so i asked them to smile series was born from a chance joyful encounter.

Ordinary Objects Sliced and Reborn as Fragmented Sculptures

Sculptor Fabian Oefner is a master of deconstruction. Piece by piece, he dismantles ordinary objects and transforms them into high art by highlighting their inner workings. His newest set of work, The Heisenberg Series, sees him dissecting six objects that all help record our memories. Shoes, a clock, a tape recorder, a camera, and a black box were all filled with resin, sliced into pieces, and then carefully assembled into sculpture.

Storm-Chaser Drone Takes Stunning Video Footage of a Tornado Up Close

Weather photographers and meteorologists alike have found drones useful in capturing the changing conditions of Earth's atmosphere. An early pioneer of drone weather photography, storm chaser and news photographer Brian Emfinger has captured some of his most stunning footage using this high-flying technology. In a video posted to his YouTube channel on May 3, 2021, Emfinger's drone follows a tornado which ripped through land southeast of Yazoo City, Mississippi just the day before.
