Lebanese Artist Creates Powerful Sculpture From the Ashes of Beirut Port Explosion [Interview]

In August 2020, an enormous explosion at Beirut's port rocked the city. Causing over 200 deaths and 6,500 injuries, the incident occurred after nearly a year of protests calling for an end to sectarian rule in Lebanon. Artist Hayat Nazer, who is highly involved in the Revolution, used rubble from the explosion to fashion a powerful sculpture that speaks to the pain of the nation.

Astrophotographer Captures Incredible Photos of ISS Transiting the Sun and Moon

Our favorite backyard astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy is back with more spectacular images of outer space. Recently, he captured the International Space Station as it passed both in front of the Sun and the Moon. While these events, known as transits, happen quite frequently—crew members on the ISS experience 16 sunrises and sunsets every day—they're hard to capture. But given his extensive research, McCarthy was able to grab these two transits just a week apart.
