Limited Edition Doc Martens Pay Homage to Great British Painters

Dr. Martens has transformed some of their most classic shoe models into canvases for classic works of art thanks to a collaboration with Tate Britain. As part of the ongoing “artist series,” Dr. Martens' 1460 boots and 1461 shoes are decorated with artwork by masters like Hieronymous Bosch and William Hogarth. There's even a pair stamped with a painting of George the Dragon, in homage to England's patron saint.

Interview: Artist Changes the Lives of the Homeless by Painting Their Portraits

Nearly three years ago, artist and automotive designer Brian Peterson began a project that has since taken on a life of its own. Called Faces of Santa Ana (FOSA), Peterson started with art-making and human kindness as his platform; upon moving to Santa Ana, California in 2015, he noticed that there was a large homeless population. “Something inside me was telling me to reach out to them,” he told My Modern Met at that time.

Dubbing himself an “artist of Absent Matter,” Italian sculptor Edoardo Tresoldi continues to grow and develop his technique. Through the use of wire mesh, he's able to mold incredible installations that have found homes around the world, from Abu Dhabi to Paris. Now, he takes his majestic architectural installations to the 2018 Coachella Festival, where his enormous installation is placed against the background of California's Colorado Desert.

New to Drawing? Make Sure You Know These Basic Techniques Before You Start

Things to Remember as You Draw Once you’ve got the essentials down, there are a couple of things to keep in mind as you practice these basic drawing techniques. Start light. When you're beginning to sketch, make light marks on your paper. That way, if you make a mistake, they are easier to erase (if you're using pencil). It also allows you to gradually build your tone and shadows. Line weight is important.
