Eco-Conscious Designers Create a Sleek Living Space Made Entirely of Trash

Global innovator Miniwiz is showing how sustainable products can create a sleek, contemporary interior with the House of Trash. Located in Milan, the firm transformed a 4,300-square-foot shared office and gallery space using trash. By doing so, Miniwiz sends a clear message that there's no excuse not to use upcycled and recycled materials. After sourcing the majority of the trash locally, it was transformed using Miniwiz upcycling technology and remanufactured locally in Europe.

World’s First Inter Tidal Art Gallery Opens in the Maldives

British sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor has once again left his mark on the environment with a stunning new installation. Created for the Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi, Coralarium is a semi-submerged art gallery filled with nearly 30 sculptures that will act as a habitat for coral and other marine species. After nine months of work, the installation has come to life and will live as an evolving monument in the sea.

Sister Duo Weaves Textured Wall Hangings Inspired by Australian Landscapes

Australian sister duo Lauren and Kass Hernandez create large-scale, handwoven fiber art inspired by Mother Nature and their surrounding landscape. Together known as Crossing Threads, their highly textural wall hangings are a visualization of their “dual personalities and contrasting abilities.” Each piece is crafted by intertwining sustainable and up-cycled materials, aiming to represent “the innate connection that we are all threads which make up the tapestry of life.

Futuristic Bookstore in China Designed to Bring Readers Into a Cloud

Xi'an, an ancient Chinese city known as the home of the Terracotta Warriors, has gotten a dose of modernity thanks to a new bookstore. Designed by Shanghai-based Wutopia Lab, the futuristic interior of the Zhongshu Bookstore was created using nearly 10,000 feet of curved steel bookcases to show off the reading materials. The white interior, which is filled with curves to soften the space, includes a children's library and public reading room.
