Most reprints of classic books are dominated by large companies that produce low-quality paperbacks with bland covers, as David Mautz discovered when he was looking for a nice set of classic paperbacks. Frustrated by the limited options available, he founded Rock Paper Books, a startup publishing company dedicated to working with independent artists to create clean, minimalist book cover designs. Teaming up with editor Patrick Phillips (who reached out to us to tell us about this exciting project) and artist Mike Mahle, Mautz launched a Kickstarter campaign to crowdfund Rock Paper Classics, a collection of popular classic books republished with an updated, modern aesthetic.
Mahle's artwork breathes new life into timeless classics such as Dracula and Around the World in 80 Days. Featuring bold colors, clean lines, and iconic imagery from the stories, the book covers prove to be a great temptation for any reader looking to own a visually striking set of classic paperbacks.
