Innovative Windowless Jet Offers Immersive Panoramic Views of Outside

Technicon Design's new Ixion private jet concept replaces windows with flexible screens that can display immersive, panoramic views of the outside environment on interior cabin walls and ceiling. Cameras mounted on the plane's main body and wings capture the surrounding vistas, allowing passengers to have an unparalleled, 360 view of breathtaking scenery like endless blue skies, deep ocean waters, remote mountains, or the glitter of city lights below. The high-resolution, low-voltage display is powered by solar panels placed on the roof of the plane.

In addition to the unique windowless design, the interior of the jet is filled with other innovations. Parallax barrier technology allows multiple displays on one screen, making it possible for passengers to simultaneously participate in video conferences while admiring the panoramic view. Gestural technology simplifies controls, allowing passengers to engage with their environment with easy hand movements.

“The user experience is greatly enhanced by directly engaging the passengers with the environment outside, to the point of exhilaration by giving an unhindered panoramic view from the inside,” said Technicon design director Gareth Davies. “The ethos of the project is simple, to challenge current thinking, and propose something a little different, but not just a fantasy.”
