Funny Comic Reveals What Your Coffee Preparation Says About You

Funny Comics for Instagram

Illustrator and musician Tommy Siegel has many theories on what your coffee preparation method says about you. In his ongoing series of funny comics for Instagram, he has put together a cheat sheet of different devices and tools we use to create our morning cup of joe. Each approach is coupled with Siegel’s humorous commentary and a biting wit that might make you think twice about how you fix your coffee.

Siegel offers some lighthearted ribbing to the different coffee methods. He considers how artisanal they are, which typically results in a better brew. For the most conventional method, using the drip machine, he suggests it's the method of choice for someone who's “not really into abstract art.” But don’t think that Siegel holds more bespoke approaches in higher regard. For one of the pour-over methods, he writes, “You believe vinyl is always higher quality despite conflicting evidence.” Just because the prep is fancier doesn't make it better—unless you use a coffee pod machine.

This comic is just one of many that Siegel has produced to poke fun at everyday life. Over a year ago, he started a project in which he drew a daily cartoon; Seigel has gone well beyond this and exceeded 500. To see more of his amusing illustrations, make sure to follow him on Instagram.
