In 2015, Flyte, an innovative and inventive company comprised of creatives, engineers, designers, and artists, wowed the world with their levitating lightbulb. Following the success of the light-as-air lamp, the team has come up with a new gravity-defying goodie: Story, a floating clock.

Simply composed of a wooden base and an orbiting, magnetic sphere, the levitating timepiece is a modern and minimalist way to keep track of time. It can be oriented both vertically and horizontally, and, with its simple style and versatile aesthetic, it can be displayed anywhere. The clock can also be completely customized to count minutes, hours, days, weeks, or even years. In addition to “clock mode,” its standard analog-like function, Story serves many other purposes. In “journey” mode, it counts down to milestones, including “a new home, a new member in the family, a marathon, [or] the most anticipated vacation to travel the world.” When set to “timer mode,” the timepiece will help you manage your time on a daily basis.

In addition to its unique time-telling capabilities, Story also boasts stunning extra features, including backlighting, an optional LED matrix display, and a corresponding mobile app. It can also communicate realtime meteorological data—including moon phases, sunsets and sunrises, and temperature—which it reinterprets through its impressive illuminations.

Right now, Story is still in its crowdfunding phase, but, fortunately, it has far surpassed its initial goal. To secure your own floating clock and support the product, visit its Kickstarter page.
