Warsaw-based artist NeSpoon has recently brought her delicate works to the streets of Bobowa, cloaking a building in a beautiful “bobbin lace” mural. We've long admired her outdoor ornamentation, which can take the form of large-scale paintings or small stamped sculptures. Here, she's used a large, detailed stencil to spray the doily on the side of a wall, shading it to create the illusion that there's a giant textile draped from the roof down to the floor. It's an exquisite addition to everyday architecture, turning the once-dull facade into an intricate work of art.
NeSpoon's use of the bobbin lace motif references the pattern's long history in Poland. It came to the country from Italy in the 16th century, and today, Bobowa is known for keeping the lace's tradition alive.
