As part of a land art contest held in Quebec, Canada, ten artists from around all around North America came together to create some stunning art. One of the standouts was this incredible portrait of Steve Jobs made entirely out of apples. After learning about his passing, artist Olivier Lefebvre decided to change his originally submitted concept. “The organizers and the city were generous enough to allow this last minute change,” he tells us. “I wish to thank Jeremie Boudreault and Stephanie Chaumont for this.”
Lefebvre bought a few crates of deer apples (which are not edible for humans) and also picked some off the ground, amassing 3,500 for his 22′ x 15′ piece. “From start to finish the piece took him a whopping 40-50 hours to complete. “I did work with a 2′ x 2′ grid,” he says. “I freestyled the rest.”
What happened to all the apples when this piece was complete? “They are still on the ground and doing well as we speak,” says the artist. “Some of them will go towards feeding the orchard's three deers.”
