Proposing to the love of your life is a huge moment and, for many, it’s a chance to wow your (hopefully) future spouse with thoughtful, romantic gestures. Jon Blaze is one man who went all-out for his marriage proposal to his now fiancé, Thao Nguyen. The pair met through their love of traveling and cycling, so Blaze decided to map-out a very special bike ride that ended with a surprise—the 15.7-mile winding route spelled out the life changing words, “marry me” on Nguyen’s GPS map.

Blaze and Nguyen met on Valentine’s Day in 2016, and they’ve been enjoying bike rides together at least twice a week ever since. They organize multiple group rides in Houston, Texas, and even have their own Instagram account where they post photos from their two-wheel adventures. Blaze planned his extra-special route for March 20, 2019, which started in Buffalo Bayou Park in Houston and ended more than 15 miles away. And after many twists and turns, it ultimately spelled out “marry me” on the map. Nguyen recalls, “I went from being so annoyed by all the crazy turns we did to being completely shocked and with the biggest smile on my face.”

Delighted with the gesture, Nguyen agreed to spend the rest of her life with Blaze. He shared the happy news on Instagram saying, “She said YES! She'll ride with me for life.” He also recently shared an image of the map route on Reddit, and received lots of positive feedback for his creative proposal. Many people were impressed that Nguyen kept her cool throughout the entire frustrating ride, which had many u-turns and dizzying detours. One Redditor wrote, “If she played along with that bonkers route she's a keeper for sure.” We totally agree!

Jon Blaze took his girlfriend Thao Nguyen on a windy 15-mile bike ride so that he could spell out two life-long words on her GPS map: “marry me.”

So I went on a bike ride with my GF and showed her a nice surprise at the end of our ride. She said YES! from r/bicycling

And she said YES!
