Animal Sanctuary on Greek Island Offers the Purrrfect Job for Cat Lovers

If you’ve ever dreamed of quitting your day job and moving to a Mediterranean island, your fantasy could well become reality—so long as you like cats. God's Little People Cat Rescue on the Greek island of Syros is currently searching for the right person to look after all 55 of its feline inhabitants. Seemingly the ultimate dream job for cat lovers, it might just seem too good to be true; but, the cat sanctuary assures interested applicants, “this is genuine and NOT a joke.”

You’d think spending time in the sun and snuggling up to cute cats all day sounds good enough already, but it gets better. The chosen applicant will be paid a full salary and live in a small, semi-detached home with a garden overlooking the Aegean Sea, with all expenses paid (including vet bills). During an average four-hour workday, the new kitty carer’s responsibilities will include feeding all 55 cats, giving them medicine, and taking care of the daily running of the “small paradise.” The ideal candidate will be 45-years or older, have some veterinary training, and be able to drive a manual car. The position also requires you to occasionally handle feral and non-sociable cats, so it helps to be fluent in “cat-whispering.”

The job post reads, “We are located in a secluded nature preserved area which is very tranquil and quiet in winter time but busy during the summer. You’ll no doubt thrive best if you are the type of person who appreciates nature and likes tranquility – and rest comfortably in your own company. That said, you’ll never feel lonely in the company of the cats and you’ll be expected to live with a small handful of cats in your house.”

The chosen candidate will be expected to volunteer for the first 2-4 weeks during the beginning of October 2018 while receiving training. The paid job will then start on November 1st 2018 for a minimum of 6 months. Sound like the purrrfect job for you? With over 3,000 applications so far, competition is high. But if you think you’re the best person for the job, you can apply by sending your photo and resume to God's Little People Cat Rescue’s owner, Joan Bowell at [email protected].
