Biologist Teaches Endangered Birds New Migration Path To Save Them From Extinction

Austrian biologist Johannes Fritz has dedicated his career to helping northern bald ibises, also called Waldrapp. This rare species of bird was completely extinct in the wild 50 years ago; however, through careful reintroduction, he's been able to “rewild” 277 ibises in his home country. To ensure that they survive the temperatures of the winter, Fritz even taught young birds a new migration path from Austria to Italy with the help of a flying machine.

City of Toronto Helps Artist Find Sentimental Sketchbook He Worked on for 10 Years

For many artists, sketchbooks are important tools to document their ideas and creative progress. Toronto-based artist Dmitry Bondarenko kept a hard-wearing journal for 10 years, using it to illustrate trips back home to Russia and practice painting in gouache and acrylic, among other things. That is why, when he noticed it missing after his bike ride, he was rightly devastated.
