Photographer Captures Diverse Range of Cyclists Who Cross the Williamsburg Bridge Every Day

The Williamsburg Bridge is one of the main arteries of New York City, connecting Manhattan and Brooklyn. According to the city government, in 2022, an average of 92,000 vehicles, 4,000 pedestrians, and 7,000 cyclists traveled over the Williamsburg Bridge every day. Photographer Adam DiCarlo has set his sights on the latter, capturing the myriad of commuters who cross the Williamsburg Bridge.

Photographer Kimiko Nishimoto, known for her absurdist self-portraits, passed away on June 9, 2025, at the age of 97. Nishimoto was living proof that you’re never too old to exercise your creativity. She took a photography class when she was 72 years old and fell in love with the medium. She continued to take photographs and delighted the world with her humorous take on self-portraiture.

The multidisciplinary club, formed in 1904, celebrates field research in all its forms and counts astronauts, archeologists, and intrepid adventurers among its members. After photographing an event with the club, Kunze asked permission to set up a small studio at their annual dinner, and the rest was history.
