As temperatures plunge and the first snow begins to fall, it can mean only one thing—the holidays have arrived. For many, there is nothing more special than starting to decorate for the holidays, with a Christmas tree taking center stage. This historically German tradition was brought to the United States in the mid-19th century and has become an intrinsic part of the holidays. Now, contemporary Christmas trees are a canvas to let your imagination run wild, with all types of decorations and ornaments for any taste.

Today, Christmas trees don't just mean your typical Douglas Fir or White Pine. There are tons of creative Christmas tree themes and ideas that can help you feel festive, even if you don't have space for greenery. But whether you are using a traditional tree, a snow covered faux-tree, an artificial colored tree, or getting a bit creative, it's really those decorative touches that make the statement. From subtle, monochromatic baubles to bright, white lights, a beautiful Christmas tree is the perfect finishing touch to ready your home for the holidays.

To get you inspired for the holiday season, we've gathered some of our favorite decorated Christmas trees. Some are chic, others are rustic, and some are a novel take on a “tree.” These decoration ideas range from a simple garland with traditional red decorations to a bold tree topper with holiday ornaments of different colors. Whatever the case, they all help bring a little holiday cheer to any atmosphere.
