Whimsical Colored Pencil Tree

Talk about giving an old tree a new lease on life! It looks like a cross between Jonna Pohjalainen's giant colored pencil sculptures and Pascale Marthine Tayou's hanging ones doesn't it? Brooklyn-based artist and designer Dave Rittinger has proposed this whimsical idea for a public art installation at a city park in north Philadelphia. Called Color Pencil Tree, the idea is to take doomed, existing trees slated for removal, due to a reserve design, and turn them into colorful works for art. How amazing would it be to come across this in your local park? Would make both young and old smile.
