Critically-Acclaimed “David Bowie Is” Exhibition Offers a Rare Look into His Creative Genius

David Bowie Is Exhibition

On January 10, 2016, the world lost David Bowie, the visionary musician whose creativity has inspired generations and certainly more to come. His untimely death makes the highly-acclaimed exhibition David Bowie Is all the more poignant, as it highlights his artistic genius through elaborate costumes, songwriting, and stage design. The show has been traveling the world since 2013; it was originally organized by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Now, it’s making its final stop at The Brooklyn Museum in the spring of 2018.

David Bowie Is features more than 300 objects that have been amassed over the course of his lifetime, from his teenage years to his death. It includes some of his more iconic moments, such as his Ziggy Stardust bodysuits, and it has immersive audio experiences from his films and live performances including The Man Who Fell to Earth. Additionally, the exhibition has a selection of Bowie's personal items like handwritten set lists, drawings, and diary entries. For anyone who is a fan of his music—or simply interested in the evolution of one’s creative process—David Bowie Is offers a fascinating look into his mind.

The exhibit will be on view at The Brooklyn Museum from March 2 to July 15, 2018. To learn more and purchase tickets, visit their website.
