Artist Brilliantly Draws Famous Celebrities in Nine Different Cartoon Styles

Do you know a celebrity's face well enough to draw it? Artist Dino Tomic puts his skills of observation to the test in a whimsical series of illustrations that feature portraits of famous celebrities in nine iconic cartoon styles. Keanu Reeves, Billie Eilish, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson are just a few of the A-listers to be captured by his digital pen.

Tomic uses a large repertoire of recognizable cartoon styles which he rotates for each celebrity rendering. Among them is the wide-eyed dollface of The Powerpuff Girls, the edgy expressions of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, and the cutesy, minimalist faces of Adventure Time. The Croatian artist finds the signature features of each celebrity—like Bob Ross‘s permed hair or Robert Downey Jr.'s goatee—and uses it as the foundation for building a recognizable cartoon version. Tomic renders the nuances of the television styles so well that each playful caricature looks as though it was taken straight from the show itself.

Although the artist utilizes some of the same styles when approaching a new celebrity, none of them feels formulaic. Tomic brings a fresh take on each Simpsons and South Park-inspired drawing. Additionally, he often includes an unexpected version in the assemblage, like the geometric faces of LEGO minifigs and an emoji face.
