Artist Illustrates Everyday Life With His Wife and 1-Year-Old Daughter in Relatable Comics

One of Those Days Comic by Yehuda Devir

While most families document their lives through photos, Tel-Aviv-based illustrator Yehuda Devir captures heartwarming daily moments through art. His ongoing comic series, One of Those Days, gives a peek into the life he shares with his wife Maya and their little daughter, Ariel. When we last shared his work, the cute couple had just welcomed baby Ariel into their lives, showcased by adorable illustrations that any first-time parent would relate to. Earlier this month, Ariel celebrated her first birthday, and Devir commemorated the important milestone with a new illustration.

Featuring Ariel sitting at the base of a giant pile of gifts, Devir’s latest, birthday-themed illustration reveals just how much he and his wife dote on their adorable daughter. “Exactly one year ago you were a tiny thing in my belly that keeps me up at night,” writes Maya. “and now you are a little person that keeps me up at night. Since you got in my life, my nights are the most beautiful part of my day!”

From bedtime cuddles to bath time, all of Devir’s drawings from the past year show just how loved-up the young family are. However, the artist doesn’t shy away from depicting parenthood in an honest light. He often illustrates tough moments such as Ariel’s teething pain, and even their current situation, cooped-up together in quarantine and struggling to balance work and family life under one roof. No matter what they’re faced with, though, Devir and Maya’s illustrated doppelgängers are depicted lovingly working as a team, while baby Ariel looks as happy as ever.
