One of the World’s Most Elusive Wild Cats Is Caught on Camera in Iran

The elusive Pallas’s cat is native to the mountainous regions of Central Asia, but it’s incredibly rare to catch a glimpse of one. The small feline species with rounded ears and a grumpy face is named after Peter Simon Pallas, the Prussian naturalist who first described it in 1776. However, it wasn’t until 2012 that the Pallas’s cat was finally photographed, and we still don’t know very much about it.

For two decades, the Helsinki-based design studio COMPANY has carried on “Secret Projects.” It’s less of a mystery, however, and more an intriguing way to refer to its collaborations with local artisans across the globe. COMPANY was founded by Korean-born Aamu Song and Finnish designer Johan Olin, and over the past 20 years, the two have worked with craftspeople in Mexico, Japan, Peru, Finland, Korea, Pakistan, the U.S., India, and Russia.
