Society of Photographers 2025 Contest Announces Its Astounding Winners

Throughout 2025, members of The Society of Photographers had the opportunity to submit their work to a Monthly Image Competition. And each month, photographs would be judged, with the cream of the crop marked as a Gold Award-winning image across one of the 28 categories. This acknowledgement then shortlisted a photograph for the 2025 Photographer of the Year competition, where the winners were just announced.

During this year’s Sundance Film Festival, held in Salt Lake City and Park City, Utah, several high-profile actors condemned the actions of ICE amid its lethal and continued attacks on Minneapolis communities. Earlier this month, ICE agents shot and killed Renee Good, an act that the Trump administration has consistently deemed as self-defense. Last week, Border Patrol agents also killed anti-ICE protestor Alex Pretti, sparking increased outrage and protests throughout the Minnesotan city.

Free Climber Alex Honnold Successfully Scales 1,667-Foot Tower in Taipei Without Safety Gear

On January 24, 2026, Alex Honnold embarked upon a remarkable—and gravity-defying—challenge. He found himself standing before Taipei 101, a glass, steel, and concrete building that towers some 1,667 feet above the Taiwanese city. His goal was to scale all of the skyscraper’s 101 floors without ropes, harnesses, or safety equipment, as part of Netflix’s Skyscraper Live special.
