Dreamy Gouache Paintings Capture a Candy-Colored World

Canadian artist Dory (aka bigbluetang) creates tiny portals into beautiful, rainbow dreamscapes. She uses an array of candy-colored hues to render expressive gouache paintings of pink cloudy skies, purple sunsets, and blue mountainscapes inside her sketchbooks. Dory is currently a third-year student at Emily Carr University of Art & Design in Vancouver, Canada.

Toronto-Based Start Up Is Combatting Deforestation With Tree-Planting Drones

Reforestation is an important part of the mission to combat the climate crisis. To plant trees around the world, scientists and start-ups are getting creative with modern technology. An Ontario, Canada-based start-up, Flash Forest, is determined to plant one billion trees by 2030. The company has created their own custom tree seed pods which can be planted and cared for by their fleet of drones.

Architects Design “99 Islands in the Sky” Floating in Mid-Air Over Qianhai Bay

This tower proposal by Sou Fujimoto Architects imagines 99 incredible floating islands that soar about 880 feet above the water. The design was completed as part of Qianhai’s New City Center Landmark competition, an invitation-based competition for a new monument on Shenzhen’s Qianhai Bay. This new project would celebrate Shenzhen and the Qianhai district’s recent rapid urban development.
