JR Takes Over the Duomo of Naples With Massive Portraits of 600 Locals

Given their public and often monumental presence, murals can easily be considered participatory, but JR likes making that connection a little more concrete. The French artist has created murals of epic proportions since 2017, each deeply embedded within their urban fabric—and its people. Titled Chronicles and inspired by Mexican muralist Diego Rivera, the series revolves around photographing hundreds of locals and collaging those images together within public settings.

Iridescent Arc Looks Like a Ring of Mist & Light and Perfectly Frames Seoul’s Skyline

Perched along the Han River in Seoul, South Korea, is an installation that almost seems supernatural: it breathes mist, its surface is blank and doesn’t reveal anyone’s reflection, and it shimmers quietly in the setting sun. The project in question is James Tapscott’s Arc ZERO: Eclipse, the artist’s latest addition to his Arc ZERO series. Like much of Tapscott’s work, Arc ZERO: Eclipse is a meditation upon the sublime, as expressed through natural phenomena.

People are often thinking of creative locations for their next selfie, so why not outer space? That's exactly what former NASA engineer and popular YouTuber Mark Rober has made possible with SAT GUS. In January 2025, this satellite, which took Rober three years and $5 million to develop, was launched into space. And this summer, as it orbits Earth, it will be taking free selfies.

Kinetic Round Table Has 18 Headless Straw Figures Fighting for One Rolling Head

Seoul-based artist Choe U-Ram’s sculptural performance piece titled Round Table is a head-turner…and a head roller. The kinetic artwork utilizes robotics to bring otherwise inanimate objects to life. It provokes thoughts on humanity and how scarcity can lead to confrontation, both internally and externally. Round Table, which debuted in 2022, features 18 headless figures, made of artificial straw, carrying a circular surface on their backs. Sitting atop the large table-like structure is a straw ball.
