Vibrant Animal Tattoos Pop with Psychedelic Colors Lisa Frank Would Be Proud Of

Psychedelic Animal Tattoos by Katie Shocrylas

For anyone who likes Lisa Frank, you’ll love this tattooist’s work. Vancouver-based tattoo artist Katie Shocrylas specializes in psychedelic tattoos that pop from the skin in an array of vibrant colors. Outlined with a combination of delicate black line and dot work, the artist’s illustrative style depicts portraits of multi-colored animals often framed by geometric shapes, iridescent crystals, leaves, flowers, and mushrooms.

Each permanent piece of art is colored in vibrant ombré hues that beam from the skin with dazzling energy. Animals range from cats and dogs to birds, tigers, and even dinosaurs. The accompanying playful motifs add even more magic to the otherworldly portraits. In one piece, a mystical space-monkey floats in a psychedelic realm of layered geometric shapes, supersized halftone dots, planets, and stars. In another, a deer appears to grow magic mushrooms from the top of its head, and even has tattoos of its own—a row of hearts on the bridge of its nose.

If you’d like to be tattooed by Shocrylas you better make sure to plan ahead—she has a limited amount of appointments and books in 3-month intervals. If you can’t make it to Vancouver, you can find more of her extraordinary work on Instagram.
