61-Year-Old Woman Shows You Can Rock a Swimsuit Campaign at Any Age

61-Year-Old Yazemeenah Rossi Rocks a Swimsuit Campaign

At a time when most fashion models would be retired, 61-year-old Yazemeenah Rossi has a thriving career. The sexagenarian is as popular as ever and making waves in the industry thanks to her refreshing attitude towards aging. A model for over 30 years, she shied away from cosmetic procedures that would make her look younger than she was. Instead, she accentuates her grey hair and wrinkles with an honesty that first inspired us years ago. Since then, she’s continued to rock any campaign she’s in—notably, a swimsuit collaboration between online shop The Dreslyn and lingerie house Land of Women.

The photographs promoting the line of swimsuits are stunning and feature Rossi wearing a simple-yet-stylish one-piece. The focus, according to Dreslyn founder Brooke Taylor Cocria, is to highlight women and their identities. It's a welcome departure from the “hyper-sexualized imagery” we so often see.

Rossi was a natural addition to this project. “This is a woman who radiates health and vitality,” Corcia told The Huffington Post. “She’s confident, she’s a visual artist, she takes care of herself. [This line is] all about being a person who’s well-lived and well-traveled and has intelligence and confidence, and letting that shine through.”

This campaign offers a powerful reminder to embrace aging and celebrate the ways in which we change throughout the years. It also sends a message to the fashion industry that you needn’t be skimpy to be sexy, or even young—just authentic.

61-year-old model Yazemeenah Rossi lets her natural beauty shine to empower women of all ages.
