Whimsical Floor Lamp Cleverly Designed as a Giant Pencil

London design studio Michael & George add a bit of whimsy to the average floor lamp with their creation called the HB Lamp. The nearly six-foot-tall light takes the shape of an oversized pencil with its illumination coming from the eraser and a power cord extending from the sharpened tip. Adding to the lighthearted nature of this product, they've crafted it so that the black cord creates the illusion of a drawn line.

HB Lamp marks the inauguration of Michael & George's Stationery Objects home decor line. It has a solid Cedar wood body, spun brass, hand-blown glass, and a rubber tip. Customizable colors are available, and you can even personalize it, too. The piece is both fun and well-designed, which is the creator's intention – to elevate familiar office items.

While purposely playful, the studio wanted to pay homage to the humble writing tool. They say, “Our hope is to inspire light bulb moments within everyone who comes in to contact with the ‘HB Lamp' (just as the traditional HB pencil has been the conduit to so many light bulb moments throughout history.)”
