Jessica Stewart is a Staff Editor and Digital Media Specialist for My Modern Met, as well as a curator and art historian. Since 2020, she is also one of the co-hosts of the My Modern Met Top Artist Podcast. She earned her MA in Renaissance Studies from University College London and now lives in Rome, Italy. She cultivated expertise in street art which led to the purchase of her photographic archive by the Treccani Italian Encyclopedia in 2014. When she’s not spending time with her three dogs, she also manages the studio of a successful street artist. In 2013, she authored the book "Street Art Stories Roma" and most recently contributed to "Crossroads: A Glimpse Into the Life of Alice Pasquini." Incredible Winners of 2024 Underwater Photographer of the Year Contest

A haunting photo of a free diver coming upon the skeletal remains of a whale earned Sweden's Alex Dawson the title of 2024 Underwater Photographer of the Year. This stark reminder of the effects of whaling beat out over 6,500 images taken by underwater photographers around the world to earn the top prize. “Photographed in the toughest conditions, a breath-hold diver descends below the Greenland ice sheet to bear witness to slaughtered whales.

12-Year-Old Proves That Archimedes’ 3rd-Century Death Ray Is Plausible

A middle school student from Ontario has just proven that the mythical heat ray by Greek mathematician Archimedes could be real. Purported to have been used to burn Roman ships during the 3rd century BCE Siege of Syracuse, this invention used mirrors and the sun to defeat the enemy. Archimedes' death ray was first mentioned in the 2nd century CE by the author Lucian, who said that Archimedes burned enemy ships.

AI Imagines New Dog Breeds To Represent Each of the 50 U.S. States

We've seen a lot of creative AI series based on the different U.S. states, from Barbie dolls to Hunger Games contestants. But animal lovers will appreciate this fun new set of AI images. Pet Lab Co. has generated 50 unique dog breeds, one for each state. The results, while not always realistic, are a charming and funny look at what a State Dog might look like.

Incredible Dance Illusion Makes Two Men Look Like Their Bodies Intersect Each Other

Renowned choreographer Damien Jalet, who most recently collaborated with French street artist JR, took a walk down memory lane when he posted a clip from D'avant, a mind-boggling dance performance. In it, we see Jalet and choreographer Luc Dunberry contort their bodies in impressive ways during a costumes duet. Dressed in contrasting-colored suits, they use their movement to provide comic relief. Jalet's post is a reminder of what an impressive piece of performance D'avant was.
