Picture this: Bora Bora. With its crystal blue waters, bungalows, soft white sand, and endless ocean breeze, the French Polynesian island is honestly the definition of paradise. But the famous island isn’t just for A-listers. In fact, when freelance lifestyle photographer and blogger Madeline Lu set out to make her dream destination a reality, she was out to prove it could be done on a budget. She recently took over the Domino Instagram to share some wanderlust-inducing photos, along with tips for stretching your dollar in one of the most luxurious tropical places.
When Lu set out to check Bora Bora off her travel bucket list, she did her research—and a lot of it. As with any budget-conscious trip, Lu advises to plan in advance and do as much research as possible before booking, which will save a ton of money in the long run. We're talking everything from flights and hotels to affordable eats should be thought about months before the trip. Lu rented her Airbnb early to get the best deal and cement plans.
Another pro tip: If you’re really set on a popular place like Bora Bora, visiting during off season (December to March) is a good way to avoid higher prices (and more people).
But Lu’s phenomenal photos speak for themselves. If planned carefully, the luxurious island of Bora Bora can be as accessible as it is remarkable. To get all the tips on navigating the island on a budget check out Lu’s blog. Until we can get there ourselves, we’ll be living through her incredible photography and experience.
