For many, Halloween is their favorite time of year because they get to show off their creative side. From spooktastic makeup and elaborate costumes to pumpkin carving and frighteningly fun DIY projects, it’s definitely the season to get crafty. One creative who recently pulled out all the stops is a father and uncle who goes by the name Griddlock Cosplay. For the “ultimate daddy-daughter costume” he created an incredible Mechwarrior costume that requires both an adult and child to wear it.
While the artist powers the “Mechdaddy” robot legs at the back of the construction, the front features a hinged doorway that allows kids to enter and sit at the controls. In a YouTube video posted by Griddlock Cosplay, his daughter and niece can be seen taking turns climbing into the “cockpit” and marching into battle. If that wasn’t cool enough, there’s also a fully-functioning fan and Arduino-controlled LED lights, making the experience even more realistic. The clever creator says, “I built this costume for the Edmonton Comic Expo 2018, but also because I have kids, nieces, and nephews, and a costume like this scores mega points, doesn’t it?”
