Illustrator Emily McDowell is back with a new set of cards! In her usual style, she's open and honest, giving us a new way to appreciate hand written greeting cards. These aren't your usual cards, no, they're the equivalent of a breath of fresh air, cards you wish you could have come up with yourself (or had the guts to write.) Of course, there are a few of her adorably awkward cards thrown in. (That's how we first fell in love with Emily.)
“This release of 20 cards includes a lot of styles that are particularly near and dear to me,” she tells us. “I had some really important non-mom maternal figures in my life growing up, and I'm a stepmom now. I've always felt like there weren't enough Mother's Day and Father's Day card options for step-parents, aunts and uncles, grandparents, godparents, etc., so it was great to get to make some. And now they exist!
“Despite owning a stationery company, I am also the WORST at sending birthday cards out on time, so there are a couple of belated birthday cards in there, which is a new category in my line. There's also a divorce card – another new category! I think my favorites of the bunch, though, are the baby congrats cards. I had a lot of fun writing to truths about pregnancy and new parenthood.”
Just for our Facebook fans, Emily is going to give one lucky reader one of her totes along with the top 12 cards on her shop. Head over to our Facebook page to enter.
