While most people opt for a traditional wedding cake, one UK couple celebrated their nuptials an edible LEGO creation that their guests would never forget. This creative confectionary, prepared by Cupcakes by SJ–a London-based family who loves to bake for friends and relatives–features colorful, hand-molded LEGO bricks, several LEGO workers who are rolling fondant to cover the bricks, and atop the special cake's third layer stands a smiling LEGO bride and groom.
“They had a LEGO theme for what was to be a relaxed, low-key wedding,” Sam of the family-owned bakery told The Huffington Post. “My cousin [the bride] gave my father the idea and the LEGO men, as she wanted them as a keepsake of the day. Then we set to making it a reality for her with no idea of what would happen from there.”
When the gifted bakers posted a photo of the LEGO wedding cake to their Facebook page last week, it quickly went viral and the family received countless requests for their remarkable baked goods (like the Rubik's Cube cupcakes below). Unfortunately, at this time, the bakers are unable to carry out all of the orders, given that they typically only bake for their loved ones and don't currently have a means for delivering outside of their local area.
“While all requests are seriously considered, I had no idea one picture would create the reaction & influx that it has in the last 2 days,” Cupcakes by SJ wrote on Facebook. “I thank each & everyone of you from the bottom of my heart for your kind comments, likes & shares. It is completely mind blowing & left my parents & I lost for words.”
