Jessica Stewart

Jessica Stewart is a Staff Editor and Digital Media Specialist for My Modern Met, as well as a curator and art historian. Since 2020, she is also one of the co-hosts of the My Modern Met Top Artist Podcast. She earned her MA in Renaissance Studies from University College London and now lives in Rome, Italy. She cultivated expertise in street art which led to the purchase of her photographic archive by the Treccani Italian Encyclopedia in 2014. When she’s not spending time with her three dogs, she also manages the studio of a successful street artist. In 2013, she authored the book "Street Art Stories Roma" and most recently contributed to "Crossroads: A Glimpse Into the Life of Alice Pasquini." Peregrine Falcon Fiercely Defending Her Nest Wins Bird Photography Competition

A striking photo of a female peregrine falcon fiercely defending her young was the top winner of the 2023 Bird Photographer of the Year contest. Selected from over 20,000 images, this bird of prey attacking a brown pelican that was too close to her nest earned American photographer Jack Zhi the title of Bird Photographer of the Year.

Pioneering Female Aerobat Leaps from One Plane to Another to Save Aviator in Distress

In the early days of aviation, there were groups of daredevils who performed incredible stunts at high altitudes. One of the most well-known groups was the 13 Flying Black Cats. Founded in Los Angeles in the mid-1920s, this professional aerobatic team performed at air shows and for Hollywood and didn't use parachutes regularly until they became required by law in 1927.

From New Jersey to Washington State, Massive Wooden Troll Sculptures Are Cropping up Across the U.S.

Danish recycling artist and climate activist Thomas Dambo is invading the United States with his monumental troll sculptures. Together with 22 troll builders, Dambo has spent the summer creating 10 sculptures that stretch from the East Coast to the West Coast. His U.S. tour, titled Way of the Bird King is using over 1,000 discarded palettes to create these magical woodland creatures.
