Canadian artist Darren Booth is a multi-award winning letterer and illustrator who creates colorful letters and numbers adorned with painterly texture. His distinct, handmade scripts are made by overlaying paper collage with acrylic paint and have earned him work with a number of high profile clients, including Coco-Cola, Penguin Books, Pinterest, Universal Music, and Disney.

 

Joseph Alessio

Joseph Alessio can turn just about anything into a written message. He’s known for creating letter form compositions out of a variety of materials including leaves, coins, nuts, bolts, and in one particular piece—around 200 pieces of bubble gum. The artist reveals on Instagram, “Thankfully I didn’t have to chew it all!”

Brazilian type artist Cyla Costa fell in love with the art of hand-lettering after taking a traditional calligraphy and typography workshop. The artist began a personal Weekly Woody project, which involves watching one of Woody Allen’s movies and creating illustrative lettering inspired by it. Since then, her extensive portfolio has blossomed into a colorful variety of gorgeous hand-drawn letters and illustrations for clients all over the world.

 

Joan Quirós

Spanish graphic designer Joan Quirós specializes in creating custom lettering and calligraphy. He has a great respect for the historical tradition of writing and lettering, so uses traditional tools and techniques, but always applies a contemporary twist to every project. Ever since Quirós immersed himself into the art of lettering in 2013, his client list has grown to include big names such as Harper Collins New York, Front Magazine, and TEDx Madrid.
