Creative dad, DIY expert, and Reddit user inexplorata built an amazing Volkswagen bus bed for his daughter's 3rd birthday to replace the crib she had been sleeping in until then.
The idea came to him after he discovered a pile of old Super Beetle parts available for free on Craigslist. Rather than build a bed from scratch, he decided to fit removable, bus-shaped panels around the metal frame of a used bunk bed. With the help of some plywood, paint, and other materials, inexplorata built an incredible model of a Volkswagen Type 2 series, complete with a bed on top, working headlights, a steering wheel with a horn capable of sound effects, and a colorful interior.
The loving dad unveiled the surprise at his daughter's birthday party, where neighborhood children were thrilled to test the bed's durability by climbing all over it and playing with every feature. Thankfully, the VW bus bed has held up to this day, and is still used by inexplorata's daughter at the age of 6. Not bad for a DIY project that only took four months of work and $100!
