2025 Audubon Photography Awards Expands Its Reach Into South America

For its 16th year, the Audubon Photography Awards has expanded into new territory with special categories dedicated to photographers in Chile and Colombia. These nine categories add to the eight prizes awarded to residents of the United States and Canada in this annual celebration of bird photography. Felipe Esteban Toledo Alarcón was the inaugural grand prize winner for Chile and Colombia with his dynamic photo of a kingfisher emerging from the water.

Amazing Winners of the 2025 Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year

A mindblowing view of cauliflower soft coral has won the 2025 Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year contest. Western Australian photographer Ross Gudgeon captured the image in the waters of Lembeh Strait in Indonesia. The macro view of the coral, known for its puffy texture created by bump-like polyps, takes viewers into a psychedelic world few have the opportunity to see.

Daniel Popper’s Surreal Art Lands at Burning Man

South African artist Daniel Popper is known for his mystical, large-scale installations. Often seen at art and music festivals around the world, there’s been one renowned festival that’s been missing his touch for quite awhile—Burning Man. After a 10-year absence, Popper finally made his way back to the Black Rock Desert with Mycelia. While Popper had been to Burning Man previously, he’d never mounted an artwork at the iconic festival.
